Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Public Health Nurse to join our team in Marion County's Clinical Prevention Services Program. As a Public Health Nurse, you will play a vital role in improving community health and making a real difference in people's lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing assessments, develop intervention strategies, and provide nursing services to individuals, families, groups, and communities.
  • Develop and implement tailored nursing care plans, including home visits for Directly Observed Therapy (DOT), routine medication assessments, and health education.
  • Empower clients through education on disease processes, healthy lifestyles, and medication management, ensuring they are engaged in their treatment goals.
  • Provide direct client care, including immunizations and STI screenings, while maintaining accurate documentation and compliance with health policies.
Requirements
  • Associate degree, or diploma, in nursing and two years of experience as a nurse in a public health, social services, or community health setting; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing; OR
  • Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the position, as determined by Marion County.
Working Conditions

The Public Health Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment, providing services to clients in various settings, including homes, clinics, and community centers. The position requires flexibility, adaptability, and strong communication skills. The nurse will work under the general supervision of a manager or supervisor, who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews results obtained.

Benefits

Marion County offers a generous benefits package to regular employees working 50% or more of the regularly scheduled work week and their eligible dependents. Temporary employees and part-time regular employees working less than 50% of the regularly scheduled work week are not eligible for benefits.
