To be considered for the position of Cardiac Monitoring Specialist, candidates must possess training in fundamental cardiac arrhythmia analysis and monitor cardiac devices effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
- Interpreting and posting rhythm strips and adhering to protocols
- Performing 12 lead EKGs
It is essential to maintain and sanitize portable telemetry monitors between patient usage in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
Educational Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED is required
- Successful completion of an accredited EMT program is preferred
- Ability to read, write, and understand medical technology is essential.
Upon hiring, employees must achieve a minimum score of 95% on a subsequent written EKG strip examination.
Before assuming independent shifts, staff will undergo evaluations of written tests as part of the Annual Competency Program; observational assessments will be conducted; the notification process for monitor issues will be reviewed; and the escalation procedures for EKG monitor concerns to caregivers will be assessed.
Experience Requirements:
- Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred
- Proficiency with medical technology is necessary
- Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous
- Ability to interact positively and responsively with patients, physicians, hospital staff, and visitors
- Capability to perform under pressure
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Computer skills are preferred
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend medical technology.
Licenses/Certificates:
- Basic Life Support - BLS (with skills assessment) is required.
