About the Role

Georgetown University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Director of Cybersecurity Operations. This role will be responsible for leading the university's cybersecurity efforts, ensuring the protection of sensitive data and systems, and developing strategies to mitigate potential threats.

Key Responsibilities
  • Security Operations
    • Develop and implement comprehensive security policies and procedures to protect Georgetown University's data and systems.
    • Lead the cybersecurity team in identifying and mitigating potential threats, including malware, phishing, and other types of cyber attacks.
    • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure the security of all university systems and networks.
  • Incident Response
    • Develop and implement incident response plans to ensure timely and effective response to security breaches and other incidents.
    • Lead the cybersecurity team in investigating and resolving security incidents, including data breaches and system compromises.
    • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure the prompt resolution of security incidents.
  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to cybersecurity, including NIST CSF and 800-53.
    • Develop and implement risk management strategies to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
    • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure the security of all university systems and networks.
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead and manage the cybersecurity team, providing guidance and direction on security-related matters.
    • Develop and implement training programs to ensure the cybersecurity team has the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field, such as computer science, cybersecurity, or information assurance.
  • 5-10 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on security operations, incident response, and risk management.
  • CISSP certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with Splunk, Phantom, and other cybersecurity tools.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and manage a team of cybersecurity professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with IT teams, university administrators, and other stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, cybersecurity, or information assurance.
  • Experience with NIST CSF and 800-53.
  • Experience with Splunk, Phantom, and other cybersecurity tools.
  • CISSP certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with incident response and threat hunting.
