Phlebotomy Supervisor at Maryview Medical Center

Overview of Primary Responsibilities

The Supervisor of Lab Support Services oversees the department by coordinating workflows related to all facets of laboratory support services, including processing, phlebotomy, specimen transport, supply distribution, patient registration, and customer service. This role ensures adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Applies comprehensive knowledge of procedures and theories in all areas of responsibility.
  • Recruits, trains, and manages staff, including administering disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Develops schedules and oversees timekeeping processes.
  • Implements policies and procedures pertinent to the specific area of oversight.
  • Facilitates training and orientation for new staff members.
  • Maintains accreditation standards for the department.
  • Conducts regular discussions regarding priorities and performance with staff through meetings and check-ins.

Licensing/Certification

Phlebotomy Certification (preferred)

Education

Associate's degree in Medical Technology or a related field (required)

Work Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory environment (required)

Prior experience in a leadership role within a customer service setting (preferred)

If supervising phlebotomy, a minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience (required)

Experience with EKG procedures (preferred)
