Job Summary:

As a Pharmacy Graduate Intern at Walgreens, you will engage in post-graduate pharmacy activities under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to fulfill State Board of Pharmacy requirements. You will provide pharmacy consulting services to customers regarding the effective usage of medications, awareness of drug interactions, and offer preventive healthcare services such as immunizations.

Key Responsibilities:

Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
Resolve customer issues in a timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers by anticipating customer needs and proactively offering services.
Participate and assist in community events as requested by Store Manager, Healthcare Supervisor, District Manager, or Pharmacy Manager.

Operations:

Counsel patients and answer their questions regarding the usage of medicine, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient information privacy, generics, less expensive medicines, over-the-counter products, and refer to medical providers as needed to ensure medication is taken correctly, health needs addressed, and satisfaction with service.
Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations, company policies, and standards.

People & Performance Management:

Assist the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training.
Reinforce the direction of Pharmacy Manager in staff performance by coaching, and providing constructive feedback, monitoring customer service, and fostering employee development.
Promote teamwork and motivate team members by establishing expectations, monitors and recognizes progress, and fosters a shared vision.

Training & Personal Development:

Maintain current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading pharmacy-related journals, company publications, and communications.
Maintain awareness of developments in retail and management and pursue best practices that would enhance performance.
Obtain necessary certifications, education credits, and training such as People Plus Learning modules as required by the Company.
Seek professional development by monitoring one's performance, soliciting constructive feedback, and leveraging pharmacy manager and store manager as mentor and coach.
