Field Engineer Job Description

We're seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Field Engineer to join our team at Carrier. As a Field Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in the commissioning of building automation systems, working closely with customers to deliver efficient and effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Initiate, install, troubleshoot, and optimize customer systems utilizing advanced Direct Digital Control technology.
  • Serve as local contact for technical issues and lead in the field.
  • Offer effective solutions for increasingly complex system issues.
  • Provide turnkey project delivery on small to medium projects.
  • Ensure systems operate properly, including controls, sensors, and software.
  • Load software, configure trends, alarms, and reports.
  • Implement time management strategies to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate and document project status and details for customers.
  • Provide site-specific training to owners/operators on the complete system.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in Building Automation, HVAC, or a technical field.
  • Ability to climb ladders or use lift equipment over 8 feet above grade and lift items up to 50lbs.
  • Valid and current driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to travel 35% of the time.
  • Bachelor's degree, associate degree, or technical/business school certificate/diploma in HVAC, Controls, or a related field.
  • Experience with building automation software and installing complex building automation controls.
  • Basic knowledge of navigating and integrating into various building automation systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networks, including wireless technology.
  • Proficient in the use of an electrical multi-meter.
  • Good understanding of common HVAC systems.
  • Ability to read and understand HVAC mechanical prints.
  • Ability to check out/commission common HVAC controls devices.
