GyanSys Inc. is seeking an experienced Data Center Systems Specialist to join our team. This is a contracting onsite role based in Santa Clara, CA.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with datacenter and server equipment racking and stacking, as well as administering servers, monitoring system performance, and managing enhancements/upgrades.
Responsibilities:
- Racking and stacking of server, network, firewall, and storage equipment into allocated racks.
- Administering servers, monitoring system performance, optimizing reliability, and managing enhancements/upgrades.
- Developing and maintaining system documentation for Lab/Data Center configurations.
- Designing, developing, and maintaining custom templates and reports for performance testing.
- Providing application and server-level support, serving as the Subject Matter Expert for asset management.
- Leading technical efforts for software upgrades, patch updates, and data migration.
- Applying configuration and tuning standards based on vendor recommendations and client requirements.
- Conducting system performance analysis and collaborating with Architects, Engineers, and Network Engineers to ensure efficiency.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Windows and Linux (UNIX) server administration, including Active Directory, Domain Name Services, and DHCP.
- Expertise in administering IIS (Internet Information Server) and Apache Web Servers (installation, configuration, monitoring, and upgrades).
- Familiarity with computer diagnostics, hardware/software troubleshooting, and networking.
- Demonstrated experience with infrastructure components (network cables, server installations).
- Strong knowledge of virtualization technology, including VMWare ESX(i), Citrix Administration Skills, and NetScaler.
- Understanding of networking protocols, network interface card installation, switches, routers, and related components.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide effective solutions under tight deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Physical capability to lift 1U and 2U rack-mounted servers and heavy storage racks (e.g., NetApp) using Rack Jacks.
- Adherence to written and verbal instructions for custom operating system and application installs.
- Knowledge of data center power systems, wire, and cable management.
- Familiarity with IP-KVM is a plus.
- Minimum Bachelor's/Master's degree.
