Postdoctoral Researcher in Mechanical Engineering

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to join our team in the Mechanical Engineering department at the University of California, Merced. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. de Castro in the lab, focusing on the modeling, control, and analysis of electric transportation systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop optimization-based decision-making frameworks for zero-emission vehicles and charging infrastructure.
- Analyze theoretical guarantees of these frameworks using tools from optimization, dynamical systems, machine learning, and control theory.
- Experimentally validate these methods through field experiments.
The Postdoctoral Scholar will also collaborate closely with the PI's team to execute planned research tasks, collect and analyze data, and disseminate findings through top-tier scientific publications. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to mentor graduate and undergraduate students actively involved in the lab.
Qualifications:- PhD degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong background in optimization, controls, and electric vehicles, as well as hands-on experience with Matlab/Simulink and Python.
