Position Overview

Location: St Rita's Medical Center Retail Pharmacy

Employment Type: PRN

Key Responsibilities

As a Pharmaceutical Care Specialist, you will deliver exceptional pharmaceutical services to both inpatients and outpatients by adhering to and promoting the highest standards of care.

Core Duties Include:

  • Demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of professional pharmacy practices.
  • Understanding hospital pharmacy medication distribution systems.
  • Monitoring medication therapies across various patient demographics, including pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Exhibiting proficiency in reading and interpreting the English language.
  • Identifying issues and proposing effective solutions.
  • Building and maintaining productive relationships with patients, medical staff, and the community.
  • Interpreting, adapting, and applying relevant guidelines and procedures.
  • Communicating effectively and supervising pharmacy support staff.

Licensing and Certification Requirements

  • Must be licensed by the Board of Pharmacy to practice in South Carolina.
  • Primary Source Verification is required.

Educational Background

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited A.C.P.E. College of Pharmacy.

Experience

  • Prior experience in a hospital setting or equivalent experience during pharmacy education or internship is essential.

Working Environment

This role may involve:

  • Periods of high stress and variable workloads.
  • Traveling to off-site locations, not exceeding 10% of the time.
  • Exposure to a general office environment with potential high noise levels and bright lights.
  • Occasional exposure to physical altercations and verbal abuse.
  • Handling of hazardous substances or body fluids.
  • Working alone for extended periods.

Physical and Additional Requirements

The position may require:

  • Prolonged standing or sitting.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, or stretching.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Normal vision range and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
