Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Banquet Captain to join our team at the Kimpton Brice Hotel. As a Banquet Captain, you will be responsible for leading the banquet team in the serving of guests during events to ensure a positive and memorable experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Event Preparation: Verify Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to ensure accuracy and completeness, and inspect room set-ups to ensure compliance with BEO directions.
  • Guest Communication: Make contact with group representatives, explain how to contact the team if needed, and communicate all BEO changes to the catering office and affected departments.
  • Team Coordination: Coordinate with banquet staff to set up, change, and schedule events, and operate as a banquet server to set up, greet, and serve guests.
  • Event Execution: Inspect banquet areas at the end of events to ensure all equipment is returned to its proper area and all areas are clean, and recap all banquet checks at the end of each day and turn them in to Night Audit.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Be knowledgeable about the menu for each function served and be able to explain the major ingredients and preparation methods for each item, and possess superior communication skills to provide information and associated services to hotel management and guests.
Requirements
  • Hotel Experience: Hotel experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Communication Skills: Superior communication skills to provide information and associated services to hotel management and guests.
  • Knowledge of Hotel Operations: Knowledge of hotel operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, preparation of business plans, repairs, maintenance, budget forecasting, quality assurance programs, hospitality law, and long-range planning.
  • Time Management: Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Adaptability: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
