Building and sustaining positive communication and partnerships with students, staff, parents, and community stakeholders is essential. This position encompasses a comprehensive contract.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Articulate the school and district's vision and mission to the educational community, while nurturing a constructive and effective school culture and climate with a focus on team accountability.
- Assess and mentor administrative, licensed, and classified personnel in accordance with best practices and district policies, emphasizing growth-oriented professional discussions.
- Develop and execute a continuous improvement strategy that aligns with district priorities, focusing on equity and achievement for all students.
- Collaborate with district leadership to promote initiatives aimed at school enhancement.
- Leverage data to inform practices that support timely graduation for all students.
- Comprehend and communicate Oregon's academic standards, ensuring the implementation of standards-based curricula.
- Supervise effective grading methodologies employed by educators.
- Lead and facilitate Professional Learning Communities and data teams to enhance student academic performance.
- Design a master schedule that offers diverse and challenging opportunities for students while efficiently utilizing the talents of team members.
- Partner with the superintendent or designated representative in attracting highly qualified candidates and making hiring recommendations.
- Establish and nurture community partnerships that enrich the educational experience for all students, with a focus on underrepresented groups.
- Oversee and support co-curricular student activities (athletics & clubs), including resource management and event supervision.
- Effectively address complex issues that have escalated within the school, involving multiple stakeholders.
- Manage building-level budgets proficiently.
- Understand compliance and program mandates, including Special Education and English Learner Education.
- Report necessary issues to authorities, such as child abuse or suspicious activities.
- Understand Oregon and federal education laws, effectively communicating related accountability systems.
- Encourage innovation within the school community, including the integration of technology to enhance instruction.
- Maintain required certifications and training hours.
- Demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional growth.
- Balance flexibility with strong organizational skills.
- Adhere to applicable district, state, local, and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS
Direct supervision of administrative, licensed, and classified personnel is required.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, and coaching team members; promoting and transferring staff; planning, assigning, and directing work as needed; evaluating performance; rewarding, disciplining, and terminating team members; and addressing complaints and resolving issues.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Oregon administrative license;
- A minimum of five years of K-12 educational administrative experience is preferred, demonstrating success in enhancing academic achievement.
- Prior public school experience with increasing levels of administrative or leadership responsibility;
- Knowledge and skills to effectively address discipline, attendance, curriculum, assessment, and instruction;
- Expertise in supervising student activities;
- Ability to provide consistent and effective leadership in both academic and behavioral contexts that motivate students and staff;
- Familiarity with laws and standards governing Oregon schools;
- Skills to work effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding discipline and attendance;
- Capacity to interact positively with staff, students, and community members;
- Proficiency in utilizing data to evaluate student progress and inform instructional practices;
- Demonstrated ability to manage crises and conflicts through sound decision-making and effective problem-solving;
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Strong time management and organizational abilities;
- Capability to oversee the implementation of district curriculum and state standards;
- Ability to collaborate effectively with administrative team members, educational personnel, support staff, students, parents, community members, and representatives from various agencies;
- Ability to provide clear and consistent guidance to teachers and classified staff;
- Responsibility to understand and adhere to district policies;
- Preparedness to demonstrate knowledge of effective instructional practices, supervision, and staff evaluation;
- Knowledge and experience with teaching standards of professional practices.
- Recent program supervision experience;
- Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, parent conferencing, and supportive communication;
- Experience with AVID implementation and willingness to participate in AVID Summer Institute;
- Experience overseeing Career Technical Education programs, including federal funding sources;
- Ability to utilize assessment data to inform instructional strategies;
- Familiarity with universal screening and progress monitoring.
