Position Summary:

The primary objective is to empower and equip every student with the confidence, courage, and skills necessary to pursue their aspirations, contribute to their community, and engage in lifelong learning.

This role involves delivering professional nursing services to facilitate the educational advancement of students facing chronic and temporary health challenges. Additionally, it includes providing emergency assistance to students who are ill or injured.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications and specialized health treatments to students as prescribed by healthcare providers and authorized by guardians.
  • Adhere to established protocols, procedures, and written care plans to deliver nursing care and episodic treatment under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Monitor the health status of students, providing first aid and emergency interventions in accordance with district protocols, while observing vital signs and employing nursing assessment skills.
  • Consult with the supervising registered nurse for guidance on matters beyond the scope of practice for licensed practical nurses.
  • Implement individual emergency plans and health interventions, promptly reporting any incidents or emergencies to the supervising registered nurse.
  • Conduct health screenings, including vision and hearing assessments, and facilitate referrals to healthcare services as directed.
  • Maintain accurate health records for students, documenting immunizations and health histories that may impact their educational experience.
  • Manage the inventory of first aid and health supplies, serving as a resource for health education materials and promoting a healthy school environment.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a current license as a practical nurse in the State of Minnesota. Key skills and attributes include:

  • Basic first aid and health screening capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Organizational skills, confidence, patience, and a collaborative spirit.
  • Current CPR certification and basic computer proficiency.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position during the school year, totaling 35 hours per week.
