Director of Nursing, Stem Cell Transplant and Acute Oncology

The University of Virginia seeks a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Director to lead the Stem Cell Transplant and Acute Oncology team. As a key leader, you will drive high-quality team member and patient outcomes at our NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Key Responsibilities- Foster a collaborative work environment that promotes inter-professional collaboration, effective communication, and team member engagement and retention.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to integrate current scientific evidence with standards of practice, ensuring internal and external regulatory standards are met or exceeded.
- Manage human resources, ensuring alignment with department needs and engaging with key stakeholders to address resource deficits/surpluses.
- Continuously assess and improve department performance in areas such as customer service, quality clinical care, and financial goals, achieving clinical outcomes as defined by national standards and the organization's strategic plan.
- Participate in leadership activities to support the strategic plan of the Medical Center.
- Accurately forecast and manage budget for the department(s).
- Develop and participate in programs addressing continuous quality improvement and system enhancements.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited nursing program, Master's degree in a related field within 1 year of hire.
- 5 or more years of progressive leadership experience, with management experience in an Academic Medical Center and Magnet organization preferred.
- Excellent mentoring, training, coaching, and effective communication skills.
- Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia, with American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification preferred.
