Ascent Buildings is actively seeking skilled Welders to join our team. We have openings available for both 1st and 2nd shifts.

Compensation: Starting pay ranges from $22 to $24 per hour, with weekly payment.

Position Summary: The primary objective of this role is to deliver top-quality products while ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform welding on components in various positions including flat, vertical, and overhead.
  • Utilize safety equipment and adhere to safe work practices.
  • Prepare and secure parts and assemblies prior to welding using tools such as straightedges and calipers.
  • Inspect workpieces for defects and measure them to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Set up and operate hand and power tools commonly used in welding, including shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
  • Assemble components through clamping, tack-welding, grinding, or bolting to achieve necessary configurations.
  • Select and install appropriate torches, tips, filler rods, and flux based on welding specifications.
  • Determine necessary equipment and welding techniques, applying knowledge of metallurgy and geometry.
  • Operate various welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc and flux-cored arc welding.
  • Monitor welding processes to prevent overheating and material distortion.
  • Label materials with job numbers and other identifying marks.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations.

Required Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient reading skills.
  • Experience with metal structures is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years of welding experience is required.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school education is a plus.
  • Welding certification is required (must pass AWS-1G test).
  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Experience operating forklifts and cranes is also preferred.
