Position Summary: The primary objective of this role is to deliver high-quality welding services, ensuring all products adhere to specified standards and quality requirements. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform welding tasks in various positions, including flat, vertical, and overhead.
  • Utilize safety equipment and maintain safe working practices.
  • Prepare and align components using measuring tools such as straightedges and calipers.
  • Inspect workpieces for defects and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Set up and operate hand and power tools commonly used in welding, including shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
  • Assemble components through clamping, tack-welding, and grinding to achieve desired configurations.
  • Select appropriate welding equipment and materials based on specifications.
  • Determine necessary welding methods and equipment, applying knowledge of metallurgy and welding techniques.
  • Operate various welding equipment to join metal segments using multiple welding processes.
  • Monitor welding processes to prevent overheating and material distortion.
  • Label materials with job numbers and other identifiers.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations.

Required Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Proficient reading skills
  • Experience with metal structures is advantageous
  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years of welding experience is required

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school education preferred
  • Welding certification required (must pass AWS-1G test)
  • Previous welding experience is preferred
  • Experience operating forklifts and cranes is a plus
