Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Fleet Maintenance Technician to join our team at Borger Independent School District. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on gasoline and diesel engines, as well as other vehicle systems.
  • Diagnostic and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical problems with vehicles, using a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate a range of equipment and tools, including lifts, diagnostic equipment, and other specialized tools.
  • Heavy Lifting and Manual Labor: Lift and move heavy equipment and vehicle parts, as required.
  • Vehicle Operation: Operate all types and models of school buses and other district-owned vehicles and equipment.
  • Computer Skills: Use computer software to operate and maintain vehicle maintenance records and perform other administrative tasks.
  • Service Material Utilization: Access and utilize printed service materials to obtain additional information and support.
  • Substitute Bus Driving: Perform as a substitute bus driver, as needed.
Qualifications
  • Class B CDL with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement: Possess a valid Class B CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsement, or be willing to obtain one within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Diesel and Automotive Repair Experience: Have experience in diesel and automotive repair, preferably with a focus on heavy-duty vehicles.
  • ASE Certification: Hold an ASE certification, or be willing to obtain one.
  • Criminal and Driving Record: Have an acceptable criminal and driving record.
  • Pre-Employment and Random Drug Testing: Pass pre-employment and random drug testing, as well as DOT or school bus driver medical certification.
