Surgical Technician PRN

Summit Surgical is seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgery Technician to join our dynamic team. As a Surgery Technician with us, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside top surgeons, assisting in life-changing procedures and ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Interact and respond with patients in a therapeutic, gentle, and friendly manner.
- Communicate reassurances and explanations consistently.
- Adapt nursing procedures to meet the needs for treatment of various types of patients.
- Assist in the maintenance and handling of special equipment and instruments.
- Appropriately and safely position patients while under care.
- Carry out surgical asepsis and safely administer medications for all procedures.
- Prepare and clean operating room suites before and after cases.
- Protect patient's right to privacy.
- Sensitive to patient needs.
- Ability to set up for surgical procedures.
- Accept full responsibility and accountability for care of instruments/equipment before, during, and after procedures, including cleaning and processing of instruments.
- Ability to follow written procedures for steam sterilization.
- Know responsibilities and the necessity for chemical and biological monitoring of sterilization.
- Accurately record, handle, and label specimens.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon during intraoperative phase.
- Maintain composure and appropriately respond to patients in an emergency or physically distressful situation.
- Ability to create documentation that meets current standards, policies, and procedures and in a timely manner.
- Highly motivated and able to work independently.
- Ability to perform lab testing per lab policies and procedures.
- Ability to interpret results of test take appropriate action on test results.
- Knowledge of storage, care, and use of each specific cartridge.
- Knowledge of quality control testing monthly or with each new shipment and proficient testing.
This position works in varied environments including medical office, acute care facilities, operating rooms, and recovery rooms, as well as potential for off-premise work and travel.
Regularly exposed to patients' conditions and some unpleasant sights, various odors, noise, bodily fluid, and communicable diseases.
Constant interaction with co-workers, patients, vendors, and general public, which may involve individuals who are angry, upset, or ill.
Physical RequirementsThis position is primarily an action position requiring walking, bending, stooping, crawling, squatting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
At times must lift up to 75 pounds.
Potential for long periods of standing.
Must have visual acuity and manual dexterity to interface with the computer and other facility operating systems.
Must have auditory acuity to effectively interact with patients and public.
Essential Qualifications- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current BLS certification.
- Minimum of one (1) year work experience in an operating room.
- Can interface with computers effectively.
- Learns new concepts and procedures quickly.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Honesty.
- Accuracy.
- Ability to manage time and appropriately prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional and courteous manner with co-workers, vendors, and other people in contact with.
- Punctuality.
- Adheres to dress code standards.
