We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Support Specialist to join our team at Boar's Head Brand. As a key member of our Safety and Health Department, you will be responsible for administering and coordinating medical support services for employees.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee medical records in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provide initial patient care and follow-up services to ensure prompt and effective medical support.
- Monitor and manage employee injuries from minor to serious, performing all necessary medical treatments and testing.
- Communicate with insurance companies and provide reports and documentation as required.
- Work closely with the Workers Compensation Health Service Specialist to manage all workers compensation claims for the facility.
- Inventory and order medical supplies, ensuring proper quantities are maintained on-site.
- Promote a positive health environment through employee communication and education.
- Develop and implement proactive employee health programs.
- Maintain accurate records of injuries and illnesses, including the OSHA 300 log.
- Stay current on occupational nursing best practices and conduct Health and Safety training as needed.
- Ensure proper disposal of medical waste and maintain accurate records of medical supplies.
- Manage Purchase Orders through Oracle for the EHS department.
- Maintain accurate records of health assessments, testing, and office visits in the EHS Enterprise system.
- Conduct safety and health training as required or needed.
- Communicate with employees regarding doctor appointments and medical treatment related to work-related injuries or illnesses.
- Conduct facility safety inspections as assigned by the Safety and Health Manager.
- Conduct in-person observations of employee job assignments for work restriction compliance.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current state licensure.
- 3-5 years of direct experience in occupational health nursing (preferred).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
