Job Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

The University of Wyoming is seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare staff, you will provide exceptional psychiatric and mental health services to students.

Job Summary:

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, you will be responsible for assessing and managing the health and illness states of our students, developing treatment plans, and providing medication management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and manage the health and illness states of students, including obtaining and documenting relevant health histories, performing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, and diagnosing psychiatric disorders.
  • Develop treatment plans based on biopsychosocial theories, evidence-based standards of care, and practice guidelines.
  • Prescribe psychotropic and related medications based on clinical indicators of a patient's status, including results of diagnostic and lab tests as appropriate.
  • Coordinate referrals and ongoing access to primary and other health care services for patients.
  • Provide consultation to and seek consultation from other healthcare clinicians to enhance quality and cost-effective services for patients.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient electronic medical records.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Nursing.
  • 1-3 years of nursing experience preferred.
  • National certification in degree specialty (AANP or ANCC).
  • RN with APRN Recognition.
  • State of Wyoming Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner License.
  • DEA Registration.
  • WY Controlled Substance Reg.
  • Valid CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of best standards of practice, including State and Federal laws and regulations that apply to the provision of healthcare.
  • Knowledge of holistic preventative health principles.
  • Primary care principles and practices, including clinical operations and procedures.
  • Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA, FERPA, the Clery Act, Title IX, OSHA, and federal sexual assault regulations.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse community.
