Position Overview:As a member of the Blade Repair Services team, you will engage in inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance for our North American fleet of wind turbines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all operational and maintenance tasks are conducted safely, adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Utilize essential safety equipment, including personal fall arrest systems, and proactively identify potential hazards.
- Climb wind towers and access turbines to perform composite repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Transport essential tools and materials to job sites.
- Assist in the setup and operation of up-tower blade access mechanisms.
- Support the team in executing composite repairs on various turbine models, including GE, Siemens, Vestas, and Nordex.
- Help mobilize repair equipment to job sites and ensure proper storage and maintenance of all service equipment.
- Perform safety and wind farm-related tasks as assigned, and provide backup support at other RWE locations when necessary.
A High School Diploma or GED is required; an associate degree in a relevant field is preferred. Experience in project development or related areas within the energy sector is advantageous.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are essential.
Candidates must be willing to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) sponsored by RWE for equipment mobilization.
Understanding of wind turbine blade construction, inspection, and repair, including LPS systems, is beneficial. Previous experience with Blade Access Platforms and rigging is preferred.
Knowledge of composite materials, including epoxy resins and polyurethane fillers, is necessary.
Physical ability to work in confined spaces and navigate small surfaces within wind turbines is required, along with the capacity to lift tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations is important, as is the willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams is expected.
Ability to identify energy isolation points and implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for safety is crucial.
Initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are essential qualities.
Travel requirements may include up to 75% travel across multiple worksites in varying weather conditions and irregular hours.
