Lab Customer Service Representative

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Customer Service Representative to join our Laboratory Medicine team at Yale New Haven Health. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients, providers, and internal stakeholders, ensuring a positive experience and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Service: Respond to a high volume of patient and provider calls, providing accurate and timely information, and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
- Lab Results Communication: Accurately review and convey lab results to patients, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Specimen Handling: Verify the accuracy of laboratory tests ordered, and have knowledge to answer inquiries from patients.
- Problem-Solving: Independently address complex situations, utilizing good problem-solving skills and resourcefulness to resolve problems.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Lab Reference Department to ensure proper information is provided to clients about specimen transport conditions.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of customer service interactions, including comments and notes on orders in the EMR.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in business related field preferred.
- Experience: One to two years' work experience in a customer service environment, preferably in a hospital or physician office with patient interaction.
- Skills: Strong computer and communication skills, including medical terminology; proficiency with Microsoft Word, EXCEL, and Access applications; ability to multitask and reprioritize in response to fluctuations in volume.
