SHIFT:
3rd, 11pm-7am

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Coating Machine Technician is responsible for operating a hot melt coater to apply hot melt wax to products according to customer specifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review job specifications to determine necessary machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Set up the machine for operation.
  • Utilize a hoist to mount full rolls onto the machine.
  • Monitor machine operation to identify material defects or malfunctions.
  • Measure wax weights to ensure machine accuracy.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks, including oiling and greasing machines and changing wax filters.
  • Complete required documentation, including daily production reports and SPC charting.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the work area and perform assigned cleaning tasks.
  • Follow final release procedures for all produced products.
  • Retain samples for quality assurance as necessary.
  • Participate actively in safety programs and adhere to plant safety regulations.
  • Provide training to new operators as needed.

SUPERVISORY ROLE:
Direct supervision of zero employees.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED with one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous manufacturing experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Acceptable prior work history.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence and effectively communicating with groups of customers or employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Proficient in basic arithmetic operations and able to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, as well as interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form and to address problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
