Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. as a key member of our construction and environmental services team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a variety of heavy construction and earth moving equipment, including excavators, dump trucks, loaders, bulldozers, and industrial tractors, to excavate, load, or move dirt, gravel, or other materials.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and supplies to ensure efficient and safe operational status.
  • Monitor and maintain a daily work log to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Work in extreme temperatures and humidity, and be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Participate in physically demanding work while wearing personnel protective equipment, including respiratory protection.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; three years of general construction experience, including operation of heavy construction equipment, preferred.
  • Certification from a vocational trades training facility or completed apprenticeship through a recognized union program highly suggested.
  • Previous experience working on large soil projects is preferred.
  • Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance, as well as basic vehicle inspection and maintenance.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures, and to communicate clearly and succinctly on a basic and technical level.
  • Valid Commercial Operators License required.
