About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nursing Assistant I to join our team at Bassett Healthcare Network. As a key member of our nursing care team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting our patients, nursing, and medical care teams.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with direct and indirect patient care within your scope of practice, supporting patients and nursing and medical care teams.
  • Perform Activity of Daily Living (ADL) care, including oral care, bathing, showering, shaving, hair washing and maintenance, incontinence care, and toileting/elimination needs.
  • Provide safety and preventative care, including infection prevention, skin and pressure injury prevention, and fall prevention.
  • Set and respond to patient safety alarms and maintain a safe patient care environment.
  • Assist with meal tray delivery, collection, and documentation of amount consumed, and set up and assist patients with meals.
  • Perform patient data collection, including vital signs, EKG, bladder scan, transfer devices, telemetry, and Massimo.
  • Document patient care in the EMR, including vital signs, height and weight, intake and output measurement, and essential care performed.
  • Provide direct patient monitoring, including safety attendant at bedside and video surveillance.
  • Perform patient care interventions as delegated and within your scope of practice, including phlebotomy, EKGs, specimen collection, blood glucose measurement, and telemetry.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred.
  • BLS certification within 6 months of hire date, required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
