Job Title: Environmental Data Specialist II

As a key member of the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) team, you will play a vital role in shaping the direction of California's premier environmental protection organization. Your successful impact will help us keep California clean now and into the future.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve on a multidisciplinary team to develop and operate DTSC's performance management system.
  • Coordinate with the Office of Environmental Information Management (OEIM) to develop and implement a data governance framework in DTSC.
  • Support building data literacy throughout DTSC, identify data quality issues, provide recommendations for issue resolution, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Oversee the creation of performance dashboards and other data visualization tools to track and monitor performance for identified DTSC programs and support services.
  • Provide technical consultation to core and support programs on the development of key performance indicators.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years with broad breadth and depth of experience as an analyst in a planning capacity.
  • Advanced Excel skills with a focus on data analysis and model building.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and visualize large datasets to drive decision-making.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental cleanup, hazardous waste management, or green chemistry.
