Job Title: Ship and Submarine Engineering Technician

M.C. Dean, Inc. Maritime Division is seeking a skilled Ship and Submarine Engineering Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Alteration Installation Teams, you will support C4ISR system installations on ships and submarines.

Responsibilities:
  • Install and maintain C4ISR systems on ships and submarines
  • Work with a team to support cabling, equipment, and device installations
  • Read and understand U.S. Navy ship installation drawings, diagrams, blueprints, and cable running sheets
  • Demonstrate skill in the operation of all commonly used installation hand tools and test equipment
  • Perform tasks such as attaching fiber optic connectors, RJ-45 connectors, and DB type connectors
  • Dress cable installations to present a well-organized and professional appearance
  • Have superior skills in complex mechanical, sub-assembly, rack and chassis assembly
  • Have superior leadership abilities
  • Superior workmanship in a mission-critical environment
Requirements:
  • Minimum Education: Completion of formal two-year or more contractor apprenticeship program in a related field or completion of four (4) years of U.S. military service with technical ratings
  • At least two (2) years of experience on U.S. Navy C4ISR installations
  • Skills and Proficiency: Works with a team, reads and understands U.S. Navy ship installation drawings, demonstrates skill in the operation of installation hand tools and test equipment, and has superior skills in complex mechanical, sub-assembly, rack and chassis assembly
Work Environment:
  • Work is primarily in San Diego, CA and Norfolk, VA but may travel for extended periods to other shipyards in the USA and to other Navy ports outside the USA
  • Work at government facilities and must be a US Citizenship eligible for clearance
  • Must pass a background investigation and have a valid driver's license
