Are you a skilled electrical engineer looking for a challenging role in the maritime industry? We have an exciting opportunity for a Ship/Submarine Engineering Technician 5 at M.C. Dean, Inc. in Norfolk, VA.

About the Role:

This is a senior-level position that requires extensive experience in electrical engineering, installation, and maintenance of C4ISR systems on ships and submarines. As a Ship/Submarine Engineering Technician 5, you will lead a team of installers, brief site personnel on installation status, and ensure that all work is completed to the highest standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of installers in the completion of single-site installations
  • Brief site personnel on installation status and future plans
  • Understand and correctly red-line as-built drawings
  • Locate and correct installation errors, such as standard violations and incorrect wiring
  • Work as a senior installer supporting cabling, equipment, and device installations
  • Demonstrate advanced speed and accuracy in tasks such as attaching fiber optic connectors, RJ-45 connectors, and DB type connectors
  • Dress cable installations to present a well-organized and professional appearance
  • Have superior skills in complex mechanical, sub-assembly, rack, and chassis assembly
  • Have superior leadership abilities
  • Consistently demonstrate superior workmanship in a mission-critical environment
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience as an installer with experience working on Afloat C4ISR installations with the U.S. Navy
  • Completion of a formal two-year or more contractor apprenticeship program in a related field, or completion of four years of U.S. military service with a technical rating, or an Associate's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or Information Technology
  • Occupation Safety Haz-Mat certification, Shipyard Competent Person certification, Aloft/Climbing certification, Working in Confined Spaces certification, and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certification
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a background investigation
Work Environment:

This role will primarily be based in San Diego, CA, and Norfolk, VA, with occasional travel to other shipyards in the USA and to other Navy ports outside the USA. You will work at government facilities and must be a US citizen eligible for clearance.
