Position Overview

About the Program
The Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault program at Catholic Charities offers critical services to survivors, including a 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, and court advocacy. Our program operates in a multi-county area, providing assistance to those facing these challenges.

Role of the Sexual Assault Advocate
The Sexual Assault Advocate will be instrumental in developing and delivering programming and services for survivors in the designated service area. This role involves regular travel to various counties to provide in-person advocacy and may require occasional evening and weekend hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, and service agencies.
  • Provide direct support to survivors of sexual assault, including both adults and children.
  • Enhance community awareness about sexual assault through educational presentations and outreach initiatives.
  • Assist victims during court processes, including preparation and accompaniment.
  • Collaborate with program staff to recruit, train, and engage volunteers in outreach efforts.

Qualifications

  • A strong commitment to making a positive impact in the community.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • A minimum of four years of related experience or a combination of education and experience.
  • Solid understanding of social work principles and practices.
  • Willingness to travel within the service area.
