Position Overview

The Ladders is seeking a seasoned advisor to evaluate loan applications. The selected candidate will provide insights on market, financial, and regulatory dimensions related to underwriting, structuring, negotiating, and finalizing loan transactions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver expert, independent assessments regarding the viability and achievability of proposed business plans.
  • Examine the sponsor's business strategy and financial models, producing an independent credit risk evaluation of the transaction.
  • Collaborate closely with internal staff and appointed advisors to validate inputs into analytical processes.
  • Provide advisement throughout the due diligence phase, including commercial negotiations and financial closure, with ongoing monitoring for up to 18 months post-closure.
  • Offer professional judgment on the feasibility of the Project's financial expectations based on historical, current, and projected market conditions.
Market Analysis

Conduct thorough reviews of the automotive market and the specific segments relevant to the Project, focusing on sustainable competitiveness, entry barriers, and substitution threats. The market analysis will encompass:
  • Input Review: Assess relevant input markets and the Project's strategy for securing adequate supply, including price methodologies and long-term forecasts.
  • Output Review: Analyze the Project's output market, covering industry structure, pricing basis, cost profiles, and competitive positioning.
  • Price Forecasts: Develop lender base case price forecasts for key inputs and outputs, proposing sensitivity cases for lender models.
Financial Advisory Duties
  • Validate and maintain the financial model, ensuring alignment with project contracts and industry norms.
  • Construct lender base case models and run stress scenarios to evaluate cash flow resilience.
  • Support financial model runs and provide reports that educate stakeholders on key outputs.
Business Plan Review
  • Evaluate the financial soundness of the business plan and its alignment with the financial model.
  • Confirm the accuracy of financial data and forecasts against key contract terms.
  • Assess the Project's financial structure and its adherence to industry standards.
Risk Management
  • Identify and evaluate financial risks within the Project's business plan and projections.
  • Recommend strategies to mitigate identified risks and propose relevant metrics for monitoring.
Negotiation Support
  • Assist in loan negotiations by evaluating financial impacts and recommending terms that minimize lender risk.
  • Prepare credit approval packages and assist in the review of financial documentation.
Post-Closure Monitoring

For a period of 12 months following financial closure, the advisor will:
  • Support the adaptation of the financial model for monitoring purposes.
  • Review contract terms for consistency with industry norms and assist in negotiations.
  • Provide ongoing advice during the monitoring phase, ensuring alignment with financial objectives.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in advising lenders on senior debt and commercial transactions.
  • Proven track record in conducting market assessments and producing risk reports.
  • Relevant experience in evaluating business plans and commercial feasibility in project financing contexts.
