Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Deputy Team Chief to support our chemical security and sanctions-related capacity building programs. The successful candidate will lead a team of national security professionals in implementing counter-proliferation programs addressing evolving national security threats.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Co-lead and provide strategic guidance to a team of national security professionals.
  • Coordinate with Department of State policy stakeholders to ensure program alignment with Department policy priorities.
  • Advise Team Chief on program strategic direction and day-to-day team operations.
  • Design and execute innovative approaches to improve program effectiveness.
  • Oversee and manage program budgetary processes.
  • Brief bureau principals and CTR leadership on program activities.
  • Represent the program at diplomatic engagements and interagency meetings.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of experience or Master's degree and 5+ years of experience in USG nonproliferation or counterproliferation programs.
  • Demonstrated success advancing U.S. counterproliferation priorities and engaging policy and technical audiences.
  • Strong skills in interagency coordination, communication, and networking.
  • Outstanding skills in written and verbal communication, diplomacy, teamwork, facilitation, and project management.
  • Prior experience managing a team of national security professionals is preferred.
  • International travel is required; foreign language skills are a plus.
  • Must be located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area or willing to relocate.
  • Must possess or qualify to be granted an active U.S. government security clearance at the Top Secret level.
