Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the daily operations of the kitchen to ensure high standards of meal preparation and service.
  • Applies classical culinary techniques to create menu items and recipes under the direction of the Executive Chef.
  • Adheres to safe food handling practices, paying close attention to critical temperature controls.
  • Utilizes all kitchen equipment effectively, demonstrating strong knife skills and proper handling techniques.
  • Maintains accurate production records and temperature logs to assist in future planning, procurement, and budgeting.
  • Conducts taste tests and assesses food quality prior to service, ensuring adherence to presentation standards.
  • Manages the cleaning and sanitization of kitchen tools and equipment during and after shifts.
  • Leads kitchen staff in the absence of the Executive Chef, providing guidance and support.
  • Trains and evaluates kitchen personnel under the Executive Chef's supervision.
  • Performs additional tasks as required.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Culinary degree or certificate in culinary arts is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in managing kitchen operations within fine dining, restaurants, hotels, or similar food service environments.
  • Experience in preparing plant-based and vegetarian dishes is advantageous.
  • ServSafe certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach for ingredients and equipment in various storage areas.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for the majority of the workday.
  • Capability to lift, carry, push, and hold items weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • May encounter extreme temperatures from cooking appliances and refrigeration units; must be comfortable working in a hot and humid environment.
  • Must possess good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for precise kitchen tasks.
Work Environment:
As a responsible organization, we prioritize a secure and drug-free workplace. Candidates will undergo background checks and drug testing as part of the hiring process. Selected individuals will also complete a physical examination, including a TB test.

Compensation and Benefits:
The Kendal Corporation is dedicated to equitable pay and transparency. The salary range for this role is $70K - $80K, subject to variation based on experience, education, skills, and market data.
