Position Overview:
As a Campus Safety Coordinator, you will serve as an essential non-armed public safety representative, executing security duties and upholding institutional policies. Your role may also involve assisting with traffic management, fire safety initiatives, and parking regulations. You will act as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), fulfilling necessary training and reporting responsibilities related to campus safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular patrols of the premises and grounds to identify safety and security concerns, acting as a deterrent to theft and vandalism.
  • Operate security vehicles or patrol on foot or bicycle in designated areas.
  • Monitor access control points and security surveillance systems.
  • Respond to emergencies, including disasters and fires, providing first aid and care as needed.
  • Oversee parking areas, direct traffic, and enforce parking and traffic regulations.
  • Report hazards and suspicious activities to initiate corrective actions.
  • Utilize public safety communication equipment, including telephones, two-way radios, and computers.
  • Provide information and assistance to the public, students, staff, and faculty.
  • Collaborate with university police and other emergency services during emergencies and for routine support.
  • Facilitate escort services for personnel transporting cash and checks to designated locations.
  • Conduct building security inspections, checking doors and windows.
  • Document statements and prepare reports on incidents related to crimes, safety violations, or accidents.
  • Manage the collection and issuance of keys and access cards.
  • Monitor incoming and outgoing deliveries and shipments.
  • Assist with special events and activities as required.

Qualifications:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certifications: Valid driver's license and CLEET Security Certification or completion of required training phases.
  • Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage situations calmly and professionally. Basic computer skills are essential, along with the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
