Foster Care Licensing Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Foster Care Licensing Representative to join our team at Hoyleton Youth and Family Services. As a key member of our foster care team, you will be responsible for recruiting, training, and retaining foster parents, as well as implementing marketing activities to increase the number of foster parents.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategies to recruit new foster parents, including creating recruitment materials and presenting to community groups.
- Respond to inquiries from prospective foster parents, providing initial information and following up with them to ensure a smooth application process.
- Conduct home studies and background checks for foster parent applicants, ensuring they meet DCFS regulations.
- Recommend the issuance of licenses as appropriate and arrange for prospective foster parents to receive required initial DCFS training.
- Assist relative foster care providers in becoming licensed, problem-solve any barriers, and ensure home compliance with DCFS regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of foster home openings and the willingness of foster parents to accept children or sibling groups of varying ages and needs.
- Assist the foster care unit in locating homes for newly referred children and children who are in need of a different foster home placement.
- Comply with DCFS regulations concerning semi-annual licensing home visits and relicensing requirements.
- Submit required paperwork to open, close, or change the foster home license.
- Provide support to foster parents experiencing problems that may result in a placement disruption, in coordination with the child's caseworker.
- Receive and review licensing complaints, investigate as needed, and take necessary action to resolve the complaint consistent with DCFS rules and the best interests of involved children.
- Arrange in-service training opportunities for Hoyleton's foster parents.
- Complete and maintain foster home records as required by DCFS and HYFS policy.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the foster parent law compliance plan.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must possess and maintain proof of automobile insurance.
- Must complete CARE and TCI training with satisfactory participation and put that training into practice in everyday work.
