Patient Transport Associate

As a Patient Transport Associate at Massachusetts General Hospital, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth transportation of patients, specimens, and equipment throughout the hospital complex. Under the general direction of the Administrative Manager, you will be responsible for transporting patients to inpatient units, clinics, and special study areas, as well as delivering specimens to laboratories not on the pneumatic tube system.
Key Responsibilities:
Transport patients to inpatient units, clinics, and special study areas
Deliver specimens to laboratories not on the pneumatic tube system
Transport deceased patients to the Morgue
Retrieve and track equipment owned by Emergency Department and ambulance companies
Run errands as needed by clinical and Administrative Staff
Provide internal transport/escort of patients within the Emergency Department
Requirements:
Ability to read, speak, and follow oral and written instructions in English
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
Ability to push, pull, and move patients up to 300 pounds
Ability to lift items weighing 50 pounds
High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Successful completion of on-the-job orientation and training
Working knowledge of Safety, Universal Precaution, and OSHA guidelines
