Job Summary:
The Trenton Special School District is seeking a qualified In-School Suspension Teacher to join our team. This position is responsible for providing a safe and supportive learning environment for students who require additional support and supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement daily programs using current state standards
- Prepare the learning environment and necessary materials and supplies
- Supervise the classroom and maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the District
- Treat all children with dignity and respect
- Supervise and promote activities designed to enhance the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of children
- Ensure safety at all times
Requirements:
- Tennessee Licensure
- Ability to lift or assist in lifting a student in need
- Ability to work with children on the floor
- Ability to work outdoors in any variety of weather
- Repetitive bending, stretching, and stooping
- Climb up and down stairs
- Have mobility required to ensure the safety of children
- Have visual and hearing capabilities that allow consistent supervision of children
- Assist in bus loading and unloading
- Provide extra assistance to students with special needs
Working Conditions:
The In-School Suspension Teacher will work in a school setting, interacting with students, teachers, and other staff members. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to changing circumstances.
