About the Job

The Senior Credit Officer, Special Assets will be responsible for managing the Special Assets personnel and credit approval, administration, and review activities. This role will involve credit quality monitoring, providing input into the development and implementation of sound account workout policies and procedures, and working with Relationship Managers and Market Leaders to approve loan workout strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of loan workout officers and staff personnel, leading and developing team members by standardizing work templates and managing workflow capacities.
  • Chair monthly and quarterly watch list meetings with line leadership and senior management to review past due loans and special assets loans being managed by the department.
  • Prepare and present reports for executive management, including projections for the monthly CRC Trend meetings.
  • Manage a loan portfolio consisting of large, complex commercial real estate and/or specialized substandard or criticized credits to minimize credit losses and ensure return matches risk.
  • Develop and implement bank credit policy, procedures, and work standards for Special Assets, identifying and recommending revision of internal standards and policies to improve efficiency.
  • Work closely with line staff and managers on the rehabilitation or work-through of loans, ensuring that credits adhere to existing credit policy guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 10+ years of commercial real estate and acquisition development and construction loan workout experience, with strong knowledge of CRE credit analyses and monitoring progress in consideration of market trends, credit/interest rates, economic conditions, and other related factors.
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with a strong focus on influencing and facilitating cooperation among staff and departments.
  • Experience with personal computer systems to effectively develop reports and analyses using standard desktop processing software.
Working Conditions:

The work environment is a normal office setting with minimal discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements. The role requires little to no potential exposure to hazardous conditions, and occasional travel throughout the SSB footprint may be required.
