Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Join UNC Health Care as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer and contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient care. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures, interpreting ultrasound examinations, and maintaining image management equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including invasive and non-invasive exams
  • Interpret ultrasound examinations, ranging from routine OB/GYN to vascular, abdomen, and small body parts
  • Maintain image management equipment, ensuring data transfer is complete and accurate
  • Evaluate previous ultrasounds for comparison prior to performing ultrasound examinations
  • Ensure a safe and appropriate procedure environment, including equipment checks and cleanliness
  • Collaborate with fellow sonographers and clerical support staff to plan workdays and patient flow
  • Review patient charts and films for correlation, and screen exam indications to ensure level of testing
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including assessment of patient history, documentation of anatomy and pathology, and transfer of patient data to storage/network devices
Requirements:
  • Completion of a 12-month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or General Ultrasound
  • RDMS registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or registry eligible and become registered within one year from date of hire
