Job Title: Dental Assistant - Oral Surgery

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Dental Assistant to join our team at Ontario Smiles Dentistry and Orthodontics. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinicians in providing exceptional patient care.

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Dental Assistant is to assist the clinicians in delivering high-quality patient care. This includes preparing patients for oral examinations, assisting with dental procedures, and maintaining a clean and sterile environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patients for oral examinations and assist clinicians during procedures
  • Maintain a clean and sterile environment, including sterilizing and disinfecting instruments and equipment
  • Escort patients to and from the front desk and introduce them to other team members as needed
  • Communicate effectively with the front and back office teams to ensure smooth and efficient scheduling
  • Prepare tray setups for dental procedures and maintain adequate supply levels
  • Keep patients' mouths dry and clear using suction or other devices
  • Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care as directed by the clinician
  • Record patient charting and clinicians' notes in the digital patient chart
  • Support patient care by presenting treatment records, consents, and health history to clinicians prior to treatment
  • Ensure equipment is maintained according to manufacturers' guidelines
  • Work closely with the Lead Dental Assistant to ensure adequate clinical supplies are on hand
  • Utilize technology to operate and explain equipment to others
  • Participate in daily morning huddles, monthly team meetings, and other meetings as required
Requirements:
  • Equivalent to high school diploma or general education degree (GED), and specified training courses as mandated by state for certification, licensure, or registration
  • Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: As mandated by applicable state
  • Specialty Dental Assistants must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and automobile insurance
  • Specialty Dental Assistants are required to timely travel to multiple offices per day, in some cases several times per day, and must have reliable means of transportation to travel to assigned offices
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience
