Job Title: Automation Systems Developer

We are seeking an experienced Automation Systems Developer to join our team at Occidental Petroleum Corporation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the existing Cygnet System and the team supporting Capital and Maintenance Projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Improve the Operational Effectiveness and Efficiency of the existing system by providing solutions that enable operators to be proactive rather than reactive.
  • Implement a high-performance HMI, increase remote operability by implementing role-based security profiles and leveraging the PLC and Local Operator Interface's (LOI) capabilities.
  • Standardize the SCADA system design used for the Oxy Onshore Assets.
  • Reduce downtime by reducing troubleshooting time, streamline how operators locate equipment alarms, and enable them to trend related data points.
  • Improve the Effectiveness & Efficiency of the Cygnet System by standardizing the SCADA system design used to monitor Oxy Onshore assets.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of administrative experience with Cygnet SCADA system.
  • Experience with Cygnet Measurement, data collection from RTUs, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with OPC Servers (TopServer).
  • Articulate competency of SCADA administration and troubleshooting experience with examples.
  • Knowledge of Oil & Gas production process.
  • Knowledge of relational databases (SQL, Oracle).
  • Knowledge of MS Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with XML, VBScript, VBA, SQL.
  • Experience developing applications using VBScript.
  • In-depth understanding of automation systems. Basic understanding of electrical systems.
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot PLC logic, based on the Rockwell Automation Logix5K platform.
  • Exposure to digital and analog I/O, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to understand in detail Facility Technical Information, such as P&IDs, C&E matrix, Instrument Index, Control Philosophy, and Operational Philosophy.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for instrumentation and control systems, such as ISA, API, IEC, etc.
