About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Scala Engineer to join our team at SunTechPros Inc. as a key member of our software development team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable and efficient applications using Scala technology
  • Hands-on experience with Scala, with a strong understanding of its ecosystem, including Akka, Play, and Slick
  • Ability to design and implement backend applications, with a focus on data processing and management
  • Knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, and experience with Apache Hive, Apache Spark, and Apache Kafka
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business needs and develop solutions
  • Mentor junior engineers and lead daily standups and design reviews
  • Groom and prioritize backlog using JIRA and act as the point of contact for assigned business domains

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10-12 years of IT experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing Scala applications
  • Experience with programming languages: Python, Java, etc.
  • Experience with scripting languages: Perl, Shell, etc.
  • Practice working with, processing, and managing large data sets (multi-TB/PB scale)
  • Exposure to test-driven development and automated testing frameworks
  • Background in Scrum/Agile development methodologies
  • Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Gitflow
  • Atlassian products – BitBucket, JIRA, Confluence etc.
  • Continuous Integration tools such as Bamboo, Jenkins, or TFS
