Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for leading by example and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental requirements, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Compliance
    • Lead by example and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis
    • Support the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process.
    • Perform complex purchase price variance and revenue recognition calculations for month-end close.
  • Accounting and Financial Reporting
    • Assist in preparation of month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and other reporting.
    • Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable as necessary.
  • Financial Audit and Compliance
    • Assist with financial audit, including gathering data, preparing schedules, and coordinating with auditors as needed.
  • Business Acumen and Process Improvement
    • Develop a strong understanding of the business and manufacturing processes to correlate production and financial data with financial performance.
    • Assist with coordinating yearly physical inventory.
    • Develop, produce, and track key performance metrics and other financial data that inform business decisions.
    • Continuously evaluate related processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Leadership and Development
    • Identify opportunities for performance improvement across the organization; make recommendations to management to improve product and process profitability.
    • Support the Controller with various projects and assignments as needed.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA or CMA a plus.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment; metals and/or heavy manufacturing experience a strong plus.
    • Previous experience in a supervisory role strongly preferred.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
    • Strong working knowledge of Excel and financial modeling.
    • Proficiency with Oracle or similar accounting/ERP system.
    • Experience with fixed asset and lease management a plus.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
    • Good follow through skills, as well as heightened attention to detail.
    • Ability to adapt well to change.
    • Ability to work flexible schedule at critical financial reporting times.
