Position Overview
The Department of State Hospitals is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Supervising Registered Nurse (Safety) within the Clinical Administration Office. This full-time position operates under the guidance of the Assistant Clinical Administrator, with work hours that may be adjusted based on departmental needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate nursing services for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Adjust staffing levels as necessary to ensure optimal coverage.
- Facilitate training and development programs for nursing personnel.
- Act as a primary contact for after-hours inquiries and liaise with external facilities.
- Participate actively in Quality Improvement initiatives within the hospital.
- Provide mentorship to nursing staff to uphold Standards of Practice and ensure a safe therapeutic environment.
- Recommend and implement nursing and hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will possess strong leadership capabilities, comprehensive clinical expertise, and a solid understanding of nursing policies and quality improvement programs. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, along with the ability to manage challenging situations with professionalism.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to interpret and comply with regulatory standards and hospital policies.
- Must not be on probation at the time of application submission.
Desirable Qualifications
- Previous experience in a supervisory nursing role for a minimum of two years.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and judgment skills.
Working Environment
This position is located within a forensic psychiatric hospital that provides treatment to both forensically and civilly committed patients in a secure setting.
Special Requirements
- Successful completion of a drug screening prior to employment.
- Background investigation clearance required.
- Medical clearance necessary before hiring.
- Current Registered Nurse License must be provided.
