Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician Advanced-Central Sterilization Specialist to join our team at Dartmouth Health. This role is responsible for the primary decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of all surgical instrumentation and supplies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and prioritize instrumentation to ensure surgical sets are clean, sterile, and complete.
  • Conduct quality control checks on instrumentation for function, defects, breakage, and overall general condition.
  • Assemble kits, sets, and packages per content/count sheet.
  • Communicate with Team Leaders and CSR Leaders regarding instrumentation discrepancies.
  • Expand knowledge of specialty instrumentation and services, becoming proficient in General Surgery instruments and three additional Pod areas.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to Supervisors, Team Leaders, or Lead Technicians.
  • Operate all sterilizers, perform tests, and maintain sterilization records.
  • Assemble case carts for surgical procedures.
  • Act as a preceptor for other employees, assist in educating, and serve as a resource.
  • Assist in rotating stock, folding towels, restocking supplies, distributing supplies, and wrapping basins.
  • Unload instrument and cart washers, dry, and put away items.
  • Support the team in operating all washers and assist with restocking supplies, clearing Decontam windows, unloading elevators, replenishing racks, and breaking down case carts.
  • Replenish trash carts to the OR.
  • Clean and disinfect equipment from the floors, endoscopes, and surgical instrumentation.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Prior CSR experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills required.
Required Licensure/Certifications
  • Must engage in self-study to obtain a certification in a Central Service Technician program and obtain a CBSPD certification or equivalent.
  • Must maintain certification.
