About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Security Specialist to join our team at the Bureau of the Fiscal Service. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in protecting our sensitive information and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive security programs to safeguard classified and sensitive information, property, facilities, personnel, and other resources.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and create detailed reports to support conclusions and recommendations for senior management.
  • Provide technical expertise and specialized security assignments for all aspects of the INFOSEC program, including the proper handling, safeguarding, controlling, transmission, transferring, reproducing, storing, downgrading, and destroying of classified and sensitive information.
  • Serve as the technical expert for the installation, issuance, protection, and security of all communications security equipment (COMSEC) assigned to the organization.
Requirements
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation, with periodic reinvestigation required no later than five years after selection and at least every succeeding five years.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • Have salary sent to a financial institution of choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • If a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify registration with the Selective Service System or exemption from registration.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
  • Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
  • This position requires personnel vetting, including a background investigation and enrollment in Continuous Vetting, which will result in automated record checks throughout employment with Treasury.
Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector, or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year and indicate number of hours worked per week on your rsum.

For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience for this position includes performing security work that involves:

  • Overseeing the Administrative Investigation, Information Security (INFOSEC), and Communication Security (COMSEC) programs.
  • Performing administrative investigations.
  • Ensuring oversight, safeguarding, handling, and storage of classified information in secured facilities.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:

For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
