Job Overview

The Welder Training & Testing Institute (WTTI) is looking for a dedicated Full-Time Precision Laboratory Machinist to join our team. This position operates Monday through Friday during the first shift, with overtime as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to both written and verbal directives from supervisors, utilizing setup sheets, detailed machine part schematics, machine manuals, specifications, tool charts, and instructions. Proficiency in using measuring tools such as micrometers, vernier calipers, and tape measures is essential.
  • Collaborate closely with the Laboratory Manager and fellow technicians to facilitate testing processes.
  • Operate sawing, grinding, sanding, and testing machinery while strictly following safety protocols.
  • Prepare test plates and locate samples as instructed, ensuring proper handling and organization.
  • Measure and prepare specimens for testing in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring accurate identification of each test sample.
  • Troubleshoot and replace worn or broken tools and components, diagnose machine issues, and make necessary adjustments to maintain production within specifications.
  • Receive and organize incoming shipments, marking materials with appropriate identification.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly lab environment, adhering to safety regulations and company policies.
  • Assist in the upkeep of testing equipment and seek clarification on unclear methods or instructions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Prior machining experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and strong mathematical skills.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, carry, and move materials of varying weights, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and use of hand and finger dexterity.
  • Occasional kneeling, bending, balancing, stooping, or crawling.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, normal color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

The work environment typically ranges from moderate to loud noise levels, with the potential for exposure to moving mechanical parts.
