Job Summary

The Veterans Outreach Program Coordinator will play a critical role in connecting, serving, and empowering WWP Alumni and their families. This position involves developing and building relationships with veterans, planning and executing outreach events, and providing support to our Alumni and their families.


Responsibilities

  1. Connect with wounded service members, their families, and family support members, who are in transition or have separated from military service, to establish rapport and communicate the benefits of WWP programs and services.
  2. Recruit wounded warriors, family support members, and other support members to participate in WWP events and activities.
  3. Plan local or regional events and activities for the benefit of Alumni and their families, encouraging them to participate and connect with other Alumni.
  4. Develop and facilitate virtual programming content via Zoom, Facebook Live, and other technology-based platforms.
  5. Coordinate details for and execute these Alumni events and activities, providing networking, camaraderie-building, and family bonding opportunities.
  6. Assess the needs of Alumni and connect them with WWP programs and services that will assist with their long-term recovery and empowerment.
  7. Identify community events and activities in the local and regional area that will provide opportunities for warrior participation and connection.
  8. Regularly communicate and network with wounded warriors, serving as a resource and mentor.
  9. Establish effective working relationships and work collaboratively with WWP teammates.
  10. Utilize expense controls and seek cost-saving opportunities to help manage budget effectively.
  11. Support WWP by serving as a local representative at events and serving as a point-of-contact for WWP Alumni and their family members, referring them to appropriate WWP programs, resources, or staff.
  12. Develop community support for WWP, presenting our vision and values to the community, communicating the benefits of our programs and services, and inspiring them to become involved with and support our vision.
  13. Maintain current and accurate data in WWP intranet electronic tracking systems, collecting and reporting results and performance metrics for Alumni events and activities.
  14. Develop and build relationships with military-focused nonprofit organizations and community groups, locating wounded warriors who have not had contact with WWP and introducing our programs and services.
  15. Serve as a local WWP representative when collocated near Medical Treatment Facilities or VA poly-trauma units and military facilities where wounded service members receive treatment, meeting warriors at bedside and working directly with them and their family members to assist their recovery and transition process.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • Two years of experience developing and building relationships with veterans, or veteran's or military organizations, or members of the community.
  • One year of experience with computer software, e.g., Microsoft Word and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, we prefer candidates with:



  • Three years of experience working with military or veteran populations.
  • Two years of experience planning events or community activities.

Education

A high school diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.


Certifications and Licenses

A valid state-issued driver's license is required.


Work Environment and Physical Demands

This role will require:



  • General office environment; temperature controlled.
  • Participation in outdoor activities and events under varying weather conditions.
  • Standing for extended periods of time.
  • Up to 50% travel.
  • May require lifting/carrying items up to 50 pounds.

Salary and Location

The estimated hiring range for this position is between $62,720 - $78,400 annual base salary, subject to a candidate's combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive. The location for this role is New York.
