Job Summary:

Vertical Careers, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our team. As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the allowance for credit losses (ACL) process, including calculations, analysis, and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the ACL Process: Assist in the calculation, analysis, and documentation of the allowance for credit losses, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Loan Charge-Off Review: Review loan charge-offs for appropriateness and accuracy, ensuring that they are properly recorded and considered in loan valuations.
  • Credit Risk Management: Collaborate with lending officers, credit supervision, and credit-risk management departments to ensure timely and accurate recording of charge-offs and consideration of inputs in loan valuations.
  • Regulatory Reporting: Assist in the review of banking regulatory reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Regulatory and Accounting Standards: Research and implement regulatory and accounting standards relevant to ACL, ensuring that the company remains compliant and up-to-date.
  • Ad-Hoc Financial Analysis: Perform ad-hoc financial analysis as required, providing insights and recommendations to support business decisions.
  • Credit-Loss Estimation Models: Provide financial and analytical expertise to assist in building and improving quantitative models for credit-loss estimation, supporting the allowance for credit loss (including current expected credit loss preparation).
  • Process Improvement: Identify and address potential process gaps or improvements, including data gaps in models, policy governance, and other quantitative tools.
  • Data Analysis: Assemble, compile, and analyze information, resolving errors and inconsistencies in data from loan systems and modeling teams.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with modeling and data management teams on model and data performance matters.
  • Communication: Develop presentations and written materials to convey the results of research and analysis projects.
  • Training and Development: Assist in cross-training the ACL team.
  • Special Projects: Perform other assignments and special project analysis as requested by management.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; degree in accounting, finance, or statistics preferred.
  • Experience: 4+ years of relevant experience in accounting or finance in banking or financial services.
  • Skills: Detail-oriented individual with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel required. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work well independently as well as in a team.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Banking, credit risk, or loan accounting experience preferred. Strong understanding of credit models, CECL, ACL (formerly, ALLL), credit risk, financial risk, operations risk, and their processes highly preferred. Ability to communicate complex analytical issues in understandable terms appropriate for management interactions (regulators, vendors, executives, etc.). Ability to successfully work on projects and project teams. Proficiently use SQL.
