Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Respiratory Therapy Coordinator to join our team at Las Palmas Medical Center. As a key member of our respiratory care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients with pulmonary conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Provide patient education and support to patients with respiratory conditions, including COPD, CHF, PE, asthma, and other constrictive and restrictive pulmonary disorders.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of continuing education programs to maintain and improve practice standards in the department.
  • Organize and lead interdisciplinary inservices and educational sessions to promote best practices and improve patient outcomes.
  • Maintain certifications by CAP in the blood gas laboratory areas, including responsibility for all necessary studies, QC/QI, PT testing, maintenance, and official reporting.
  • Adhere to facility infection control standards and identify and report potential or violations of the documented standards.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain blood gas instruments, including proper cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilization of equipment.
  • Provide resourceful clinical information and education to internal and external customers.
  • Recognize and report suspected abuse and neglect in all patient age groups, as outlined by state and federal law.
  • Assess and document pain in the patient, as outlined in the facility pain management program.
  • Recognize and report any safety issues observed in the patient and non-patient areas of the facility.
  • Adhere to facility Patient rights (including privacy) standards and identify and report potential or violations of the documented standards, state, or federal laws.
  • Adhere to the professional code of ethics as established by the AARC.
Requirements
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT / RCP), or Licensed Respiratory Therapist
  • Associate Degree
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current ACLS PALS and NRP provider preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Experience in critical care, including but not limited to ER, ICU/CCU, PICU, and/or SCN (ICN).
  • Knowledge and skilled in the use of personal computers and/or healthcare information technology. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Knowledge of JCAHO and CAP/CLIA standards.
