Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Intensive Care Nurse to join our team in the Medical Intermediate Care Unit at Alaska Regional Hospital.

About the Job

In this role, you will provide expert care to patients requiring intermediate-level medical attention. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized plans of care, ensuring the highest level of patient satisfaction and outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Prioritize nursing care for assigned patients based on assessment data and identifies needs for intervention.
  • Demonstrate appropriate decision making, critical thinking and clinical judgment to make nursing decisions and identify health care needs.
  • Evaluate and document each patient's response to medications, interventions, and procedures.
  • Assist in the formulation, coordination, and implementation of the patient's Plan of Care based on the assessment of their individual needs.
  • Monitor basic EKG, recognize rhythms and have the ability to intervene as needed.
  • Assist the physician with procedures such as intubation, line placement and chest tubes
  • Ensure ventilator, monitors and other equipment are functioning properly.
  • Demonstrate an ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations.
  • Collaborate with fellow members of the critical care team.
Requirements
  • Current Alaska nursing license in good standing
  • Associate's Degree in nursing required, Bachelor's preferred
  • One-year IMCU experience required; Two years preferred; PCCN preferred
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certified (ACLS)
