Senior FP&A Analyst, R&D

Velocity Global is seeking a highly skilled Senior FP&A Analyst to support its growing Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team in R&D. This remote role will be based in the United States, serving global stakeholders and partners. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership in Engineering, Product, and Design teams to manage strategic budgets, resource planning, and allocation. Key responsibilities include spearheading R&D monthly financial forecasting, annual budgeting, and operating plan variance analysis. This role will also involve ad hoc strategic projects and reporting to the Senior Director of FP&A.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Forecasting and Budgeting: Analyze actual results, forecasts, and budgets, working closely with senior tech and product team members to develop annual budget and periodic forecasts.
  • Provide strategic guidance on financial feasibility for sustained growth in Technology and Engineering, including new project development, product launches, and workforce planning.
  • Firmly promote zero-based budgeting principles and methods, with scheduled and unscheduled rigorous review of costs and forecasts.
  • Support continued development of our team's forecasting tool, Anaplan.
  • Provide financial insight and support to the team with variance analysis to budget and forecast for operating expenses, capital spend, and project spend.
  • Monitor financial KPIs, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variances.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an FP&A or similar consulting role.
  • Financial modeling and forecasting experience required.
  • Advanced proficiency with Google Suite or Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with business planning software, preferably Anaplan.
  • NetSuite experience or similar.
  • Experience working with senior leadership and cross-functional partners, with a strong backbone.
  • Critical thinker and self-starter who embraces change and can lead innovation in financial reporting and modeling.
  • Analytical skills and ability to work independently within remote teams.
